On the afternoon of the 8th day of August, Richard Harrington MP, undersecretary of the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy of the United Kingdom, led a delegation of the Department to visit Wanxiang. CHEN Jun, vice-president of Wanxiang, met with the visitors. The two sides made exchanges with each other about the current situation and development prospect of the new energy industry and extensively discussed on the cooperative opportunities of relevant programs.
CHEN greeted the delegation at Wanxiang's New Energy Exhibition Hall and introduced Wanxiang’s history of entrepreneurship, the globalized layout of new energy, and the planning construction of Wanxiang Innovation & Energy-gathering City. Having made investment in the R&D and industrialization of cutting-edge clean energy technologies since 1999, Wanxiang has now built an industry and technology platform with international competitiveness. Guided by the idea of “Openness, sharing, innovation and energy-gathering”, Wanxiang opens its industrial resources accumulated during the past 49 years and makes efforts to provide an entrepreneurship and innovation platform for the global scientists, innovators, entrepreneurs and investors, establish a double-innovative type of business characterized by the integrated development of large-, middle-, small-, and micro-sized enterprises, and jointly create a commanding height of future industrial technology.
Richard Harrington MP and the entourage highly appreciated the achievements Wanxiang had made during the past years, especially the leading role Wanxiang played in the field of new energy power battery. Harrington introduced two institutions that went along with him – the Advanced Power Promotion Center and the Battery Challenge Plan, which were examples of the R&D cooperation relationships between the UK government and enterprises, and recommended in detail the industrial strategies, policies and new opportunities of the UK in new energy vehicles, power battery and other fields in the future decades. According to Harrington, Wanxiang’s new energy development layout and visions accorded with the overall new energy strategy of the UK. He also welcomed Wanxiang to the UK to carry out more extensive and deeper investment cooperation, enhance the interconnection of superior resources, and create a win-win future by gathering energy and making innovation. Besides, he invited Wanxiang to attend the Global Zero Emission Vehicle Summit which would be held in the UK in September.
